"How to Eat a Poem" by Eve Merriam
What were your thoughts about this poem today? Enjoyed it/Disliked it/Were confused by it...explain!
If you could write a poem about enjoying something, the way Merriam did about a poem, what would you write about?

Okay, everyone, here is your one and only time to post what you think our poetry unit will be like. Do you already dislike poetry? Why? Do you feel like you aren't "good" at poetry? How come? What are your eoverall expectations?

Post any links (or type the words) to a poem or song you think connects to the book in any way...be sure to credit the person and source (author and website or book). Thanks!

Discuss the ending of the book--
Did you like the ending? Why/why not? What do you wish the author had done differently? How did you feel about what happened with Samantha?
Choose one or two questions to respond to--and form a response that is backed up by details. Feel free to make any outside connections (compare to another book or song, compare to your life...)

Write a general response to the book so far. You may want to consider one or more of the following questions, but you do not HAVE to use these-you can come up with your own response!

Steven loves to play the drums, and especially takes to jazz music. His love for drums and jazz ends up being a comfort to him as his family deals with Jeffrey's illness.
What sorts of positive hobbies or distractions do you engage in to help you if you are stressed or down? Running? Working out? Talking to a buddy?
